Winemaker Wenceslao Gil Durantez began his wine career when his soccer career was ended by injury. The Beautiful Game’s loss has been our gain. His 100% Tinta de Toro, the local name for Tempranillo, offers an impressively complex nose of smoked meat, vanilla, spice and violets. Boldly structured, rich and flavourful with a light spicy note on the long finish. (VINTAGES panel, Jan. 2013)

Opaque black-ruby in colour with the slightest trace of red currant, the 2008 Adoremus Tinta de Toro reveals concentrated aromas of baked blackberries, cupboard spices, mocha, forest floor, licorice, and vanillin. Complex, carrying delicious fruit, very firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a sturdy, poignant hint of mocha, baked blackberries, and cupboard spices on the finish. Highly satisfying, well-structured, and balanced. Now-2021. (Tasted October 2013) Score – 89
